If I've friended you, it's because I stumbled upon your lj somehow (through a community or the lj of some one on my flist) and it looks interesting to me. Most likely, you tend to write reviews, analysis and discussion about movies, books, tv, music, musicals, etc on your lj.
Friend me or don't friend me; unfriend me whenever you feel like it. I may or may not friend you back, depending on whether your lj is something I'd be interested in reading (see above). Nothing personal. Everything in my LJ is either public or for my eyes only.
I love feedback, so feel free to comment (even if it's on a very old post) whenever it strikes your fancy!

I also have a community,
icenvironments, in which I talk about career and education related stuff. Feel free to check it out if you're interested. Isolated Confined Environments (Blogspot) is my professional blog and is currently under development.

First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out—
because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me—
and there was no one left to speak out.
-Martin Niemöller
Science...cannot make value judgments: it cannot say, for example, that a painting or sunset is beautiful. And science cannot make moral judgments: it cannot say that war is immoral. It cannot even say that a river is polluted. Science can, however, analyze responses to a painting; it can analyze the biological, social, and cultural implications of war; and it can demonstrate the consequences of pollution. It can, in short, try to predict what people will consider beautiful or moral and it can provide information that may help them make value judgments or moral judgments about war or pollution. But the act of making the judgments is not itself science.
-William T. Keeton and James L. Gould, Biological Science
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
